My Aunt teaches me to change a tire

This situation came up for me Saturday 27th of May. My aunt got into her parking lot and realized her car tire was flat. Why was this tire flat? She drove over a nail somehow.

How to change a tire?

  1. Find a safe flat location, thankfully we were in my aunt’s garage
  2. Turn on your hazard lights
  3. Apply parking brake
  4. Apply wheel wedges
  5. Remove wheel hub cap and wheel covers.
  6. Loosen the lug nuts, Lefty loosey!
  7. Place jack under the vehicle, in our case, it was a Toyota
  8. Unscrew lug nuts
  9. remove the flat tire
  10. Mount on the spare tire with lug nut bolts
  11. Tighten the lug nuts
  12. Lower the vehicle and tighten again
  13. Lower the vehicle completely
  14. Replace hubcap
  15. Store all of your equipment
  16. Check pressure in your tire
  17. Take flat tire to Dignity auto repairs!

  1. If your car needs regular service get it done now. You do not want to break down on the 401 in below minus 10 weather on your way to your relative’s place.
  2. Drive slowly when possible to navigate in difficult weather.
  3. Check Brakes and adjust to ensure equal braking.

Brake Issues

Here are two pictures that will show you the difference between good brakes and bad. When a mechanic says your brake are seized this is what he means. The caliper on the brake that pulls your brake pad onto your rotor and when its rusted out like this it doesnt slide properly and that can cause many issues with your brakes. Here is a pictures of what a good one looks like on the left and what a bad one looks like on the right. your pinion has to be heated up to be able to release some rust for it to come out and that in its self could cause damage. thumbnail_image1
